BEAUTY SPOTTING | How to Wear Red Lipstick TheRedlippie Way!
May 24, 2012Red lips are classic and elegant. |
The other day, a colleague asked me how I typically wear my red lippie! (To Ailene, thanks for asking!). Yay!
Red lips have been worn many times in so many generations and yet, they never go out of style.
And because I sooooo love red lipstick, that I am going to share how I prep myself wearing one. Red lipsticks are vintage(y) and you do all know how much I love old people, places and even style.
Now, the how-tos:
- Scrub your lips prior to lipstick application to avoid "bleeding" your lips (Tip: Use brown sugar or a small toothbrush and gently scrub your lips)
- After scrubbing, apply some lip balm (Tip: I use petroleum jelly). Wait for 2 minutes.
- Optional: Apply a primer (Tip: I use the same primer I use for my face, the NYX Studio Perfect Photo- Loving Primer which I reviewed here.
- With a neutral-colored lip pencil, start lining your lips for some extra definition.
- Apply a MATTE lipstick (Tip: Matte Lipsticks are typically long lasting and look more elegant. I use several but on the photo below, I am using NYX Matte Lipstick in Pure Red)
- Fold a piece of white tissue, kiss it (as if you are kissing a boyfie, lol). Do it slowly.
- With the tissue still on your lips, apply a translucent powder on top of the tissue paper (the holes in the tissue will absorb the powder. Applying it directly on your lips may affect the pigment of the lipstick).
- Apply a second coat of your matte lipstick.
- You may opt to put some gloss on top of it.
- Congratulations, you're DONE!
Now you are ready for a long smooching sessions with the *boy or for a girl's night out which involves a lot of eating and endless partying.
So next time you need some long lasting lip color, remember my how-to's and get ready to be noticed!
Love,
Miss J
