REVISITED | ELF Studio High Definition Powder Review

August 24, 2012

Aside from owning a number of lipsticks, one of my guilty pleasures is acquiring a number of powder foundations. You see it’s not easy being ME---->  combination skin, huge pores in my nose area and the occasional zits. Huhuhu:(

But okay, I'll stop ranting and my usual blah(s)!

Though I don’t break out that much like most ladies do, I am still not exempted from having a pimple or two.

So what do you think about High Definition (HD) powders? You see many brands today use the term, “High Definition Makeup (HD)".

HD actually pertains to a better resolution in any video system. In makeup however, HD makeup products contain light reflectors and other ingredients to give your skin a flawless finish. This is exceptionally beautiful when you are taking photographs or working in front of the camera, but it is also great for older or mature skintone because they make your skin not only look flawless, but younger as well.

This was the reason why I had to get the e.l.f. Studio High Definition Powder.

I asked a friend from the US last year to get me some ELF babies and this was one of those. So to be honest, seldom do I reach the pan but if I do, then it means I really, really like the product. So just one day, I was surprised to see that I emptied its container.

Product Description:

The e.l.f. High Definition Powder is a translucent, versatile loose powder that creates a flawless, "soft focus" effect to the skin. Masks fine lines and imperfections for a glowing, radiant complexion. This incredibly soft and invisible powder is ideal for everyday wear, either alone or over your favorite e.l.f. foundation. Our HD Powder is a makeup artist and e.l.f. customer favorite, and at only $6, it can be yours at a fraction of the cost of the competition!

Me Says:
  • A lot of product inside (8g)
  • Inexpensive for $6.00 (bought in US)
  • Kept my face matte
  • White to translucent or clear powder but invisible when applied (blend, blend and blend)
  • No unusual smell
Dislikes:
  • Be warned: Application can be messy
  • Contains silica so if you are allergic: stay away
  • The packaging looks nice outside but then for some reason powder spills from inside
  • Not available locally (only through online sellers or Multiply)

Overall Verdict:

4.0 Lipsticks

A lot of bloggers are comparing this to Makeup Forever’s (MUFE) HD Powder however since I have not tried the MUFE powder, I cannot confirm whether they are even comparable. But for its price, the job gets done anyhow.

I recently purchased this powder in Multiply from a seller called Stuff in Style (SIS) for Php 350.00. I guess it’s not bad at all considering that you can't find this from your local ELF counter.

I usually use this to set my cream or liquid foundie or my tinted moisturizer. It does keep my face matte. I don’t know if it makes any HUGE difference on photos but I can see that the photos of me using this are well put.

Buy Again? I had to wait for few months till this one becomes available in Multiply so YES, YES, YES!

Love,
Miss J
