REVISITED | BARENAKED Body Sugaring Salon Review
April 29, 2015
Some few months back, I reviewed Wink Laser located at BGC
which I liked. But being the busy girl that I am, I couldn’t keep up driving to
BGC each time I needed one. I will forever be a Glorietta-SM-Landmark-Greenbelt
kind of girl I think. My life revolves within these premises from catching the
latest movies, restaurants, haircut and my best friend JB’s occasional beer
session at Outback.
The hot wax as I remembered also proved to be less painful for me so I
planned on staying with Wink Laser. However, the plan became just a plan after
I became too busy. I went back to my old waxing salon using some cold wax because it's easier to drive in the area and
while I was no longer too happy with the result, they do the job quite well so
I set aside my inner complaints. That’s what lazy girls get—you need to accept things even when you think they aren’t good enough for you!
But soon after, I found BARENAKED Body
Sugaring Salon at Glorietta 5. Okay--- sugaring? What’s that?
Said to be the most natural way to remove unwanted hair, during
the process, a sugaring substrate sticks to and essentially removes hair
without attaching to the skin. The substrate can be applied at room temperature
or heated to a lukewarm temperature, minimizing the risk of burns. For this
reason, sugaring is generally preferred over waxing when it comes to removing
hair from larger areas of skin. Source: Wikipedia
I had two sugaring sessions already at BareNaked and I think it’s enough for me to talk about them in depth.
To illustrate better, here’s a comparison from BareNaked’s
website:
First of all, the place looks really tidy and well
maintained. Abby, one of their attendants was helpful in explaining the
difference between a cold wax vs. sugaring method. I can say that sugaring is
indeed less painful in my experience. Also, the hairs are removed in one “pull”.
Plucking the remaining hairs can be avoided, finally! My session was surprisingly faster
too. I didn’t have a lot of ingrown hairs since plucking was out of the
question weeks after the session. The recommended time to go back for another session is 4-5 weeks. There is nothing which I didn't like.
Oh, and if you are wondering, I availed of their Brazilian service for Php 550.00. Relatively pricier than most cold waxes but this
sugaring service, hmmmm.... I like better.
Overall Verdict:
5 Lipsticks
Maybe next time, I’d sign up for Brazilian diode laser, who knows? The hassle of going back and forth each few weeks would be gone! But
they say we have hairs over there for a reason. So, yeah, I need to contemplate
real hard.
Now let's cheer for being hair-free for a moment!
Love,
