One Day (The Movie)

September 01, 2013

I am doing this quick post after seeing one of my fave movies again--- One Day.

One Day is a novel by David Nicholls, published in 2009 starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. You'll be surprised that each chapter shows the lives of two lead characters on 15 July, St. Swithin's Day, for twenty years. It starts off as the two meeting for the first time and then slept together then later on agreeing as friends.

It is not your typical movie which ends in the usual way, "And they lived happily ever after." It is rather exciting, happy, unusual and then later on makes me teary eyed in the end. I mean what would one feels if the very person you cared for since the time you meet twenty years earlier tragically meets an accident?

I am sucker for happy endings and sometimes sad too, but there is something in this movie which has taught me: "Never take for granted the people who love you and whom you love. The language of love is rather universal. It may speak different languages but the feeling remains the same."

Love,
Miss J
