REVISITED | Shinagawa’s Laser Genesis Treatment Review
June 12, 2015
Admittedly, I am a skin-care late-bloomer. I didn’t really
pay much attention to my skin care routine until few years ago. My main
concerns are the usual: huge pores on my cheeks and combination to oily skin.
And because I have oily skin, I was comforted with the fact that oily-skinned gals shall age “more gracefully” than those with dry skin. I think there is truth to this belief. Until now I don’t have visible wrinkles to say the least. However, I don’t have too much scars or pimples too- just my biggest problems are the size of my pores and looking like a grease ball from time to time.

Last year, I tried Shinagawa’s Laser Genesis Treatment but
since I had some beach trips in Bicol during the Christmas break, I didn’t
think much about getting another treatment. I was instead contemplating on
getting another treatment but changed my mind after some human being dissuaded
me. This person thinks I don’t need it any type of laser treatment.
Then last Monday, I showed up for another Laser Genesis
treatment! Unlike harsher methods, this is done without injuring the skin (it's
a non-ablative laser) and best results are obtained by doing a series of
treatments. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each
treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or irritation.
Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of
topical anesthetics or gel. The skin is gently warmed during this procedure,
and daily activities may be resumed immediately afterwards. You will see a more even, healthy complexion
as large pores are reduced in size, and minor imperfections are diminished. (Source)
If you have been following my blog, you can say I’m a loyal
Shinagawa customer. I had my Intralasik
procedure at Shinagawa in 2012. This
is also the reason why I considered them for this kind of treatment. To be
honest, I am kinda afraid of facial lasers in general because to me they are
synonymous with pain, discomfort and sunburnt-looking face.
Before the procedure
You will be asked to wash your face at a designated wash
area. You will then be asked to wait for couple of minutes before they will
call you to proceed to the room with the laser machine.
During the procedure
You should know that there is no topical anesthesia applied
on your face. Your eyes and brows will then be covered. I was warned that if
and when I smelled like something is burning, that should be my baby hairs.
The actual laser felt like heat is distributed in my face. It was hot yes, but manageable. Also, please feel free to
ask the other person to stop if the heat becomes unbearable. The procedure was
pretty quick, I am done in less than 20 mins!
After the procedure
Without any makeup on, I can see my face glowing (yes, it is
true!). Some sunblock was applied after the procedure. However, you will need
more sessions to really get the results you want. This procedure costs around
Php 3,000 to Php 4,000.00 per session.
You are also not supposed to wash your face for few hours (I
was told to wash it during the evening. I was there around 2pm).
The best thing about this treatment for me is that I don’t look
like a mess after. No downtime, I can wear makeup the very next day. The
downside perhaps is that you will need more sessions to achieve really perfect
skin. But then, like anything else, beauty comes with discipline and sometimes,
with a price. And so I still think it’s worth your while and money.
