FOTD | Brown Smokey is the Key
May 30, 2013
I must admit, I haven’t done much makeup these days. Can’t
blame the girl, there are just too many things going on in my life at this
time. I have recently transitioned to a new role in my regular office job thus
most of my time are spent learning new ropes again. But busy is good, don’t you
think?
My cat is away and so I am basically on my own: empty house,
empty wallet (these hospital costs are crazy), empty heart (naks) which leave
me with an empty mind altogether, haha.
With all these craziness in my life, I
must say I am still lucky being alive and kicking .
The other day, I busied myself grabbing some eyeshadow
palettes to see what my hands can do with them. While watching one episode of
Nikita, Maggie Q was just awesome and thought come on, why not try the smokey
eye look again only this time, I want it brown (or taupe).
Smokey eyes can be tricky, IMHO. When done in good taste and
faith, the result can be very rewarding. For small, hooded eyes, I suggest to
fake a crease by contouring your lids starting with a soft taupe or brown color
to give the illusion of well rounded eyes.Your crease is that part of your lids where your eyeballs sit. Then at the outer lid, find a darker
eyeshadow color and blend it for four(4) hours (errrr…. I’m just kidding). But
seriously: blend, blend and blend some more!
If you already have that crease that I dreamed of,
congratulations, you are my peg in this lifetime, lol. It won’t be as hard as
those girls with hooded eyes like me because you can basically do everything
you wish for in your eyelids (which makes me extremely jealous).
Anyhow, going back to the smokey topic, here’s my version.
Here are the products I used:
Face:
Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser
Loreal White Perfect Whitening Foundation Essence
Essence Fix & Matte Translucent Loose Powder
Essence Matte Bronzing Powder (for contouring)
In2it Waterproof Blush in Virtue
Eyes:
Fanny Serrano Single Eyeshadow in Glamour Peach (highlight)
Fanny Serrano Single Eyeshadow in Mocha Java
Fanny Serrano Single Eyeshadow in Mineral Coal (used as cake eyeliner)
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Lips:
In2it Lasting Colour Lipstick in Rosie
Sometimes neutrals can be boring but you can never go wrong
with the basic colors. With all these things going on in my life, I wouldn’t
mind putting on something without the heaviness or consciousness whether the
look suits me.
We, people are already complicated, and sometimes, all we
need is a hint of simplicity in our lives to be able to conquer those which are
extremely challenging.
When I'm in doubt what to do in the midst of all these
chaos, I always K.I.S.S. (Keep-ing it Short and Simple).
Don’t forget to K.I.S.S. everyone!
Love,
Miss J
