REVISITED| Smashbox Photo Finish SPF 15 Foundation Primer with Dermaxyl Complex Review

March 19, 2014

I am a firm believer of primers, they truly work! The only key of course is to find one which works best for you. I picked up the Smashbox Photo Finish SPF 15 Foundation Primer with Dermaxyl Complex at Beauty Bar couple of months ago (around Christmas time so I had money to spare that time).

This product is priced at Php 2,100+ (USD 50.00) and yes, it is pricey for crying out loud. However, I had the opportunity to get few discounts but could not remember exactly how much I paid for it.

They say this primer is for ‘mature’ skin; albeit it will work on ladies 20 and up I think. The texture is somewhat silicone-y if you know what I mean. However, it is not as silicone-y as the others I’ve tried.

First, let’s see how Smashbox describes this product:

This primer protects and corrects in just one step. Worn alone or under foundation to increase its longevity, this unique formula creates the perfect canvas for foundation application, while helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for visibly softer skin. The innovative formula contains Dermaxyl Complex™ an advanced peptide treatment clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles over time, SPF 20 to guard against harmful UVA/UVB rays, vitamins A and E, grape seed extract, and green tea for antioxidant protection.

It goes smoothly on your face without a question. It is velvety, reduces my fine lines and makes foundation application heavenly. It has no pungent smell whatsoever and to me that’s really important.  A little amount can do wonders; you will really see how it can smoothen your facial lines.

On the otherhand, it just didn't work well on my oily T-zone, so that frustrated me a lot. I mean, for that price, I can for sure buy another product and expect it to work. The price is indeed an consideration for this product as there are cheaper alternatives to this. From the reviews on line, other bloggers are praising this on high heavens, I’d say I am going to rate it mediocre for my skin type.

Overall Verdict:

3.5 Lipsticks

Buy Again: No, I shall pass up. Maybe next time.

So yeah, you heard it from me: what works for me might not work for you and vice versa.

Have you had any luck with Smashbox products?

Love,
