FOTD | Brown Smokey is the Key

I must admit, I haven’t done much makeup these days. Can’t blame the girl, there are just too many things going on in my life at this time. I have recently transitioned to a new role in my regular office job thus most of my time are spent learning new ropes again. But busy is good, don’t you think?

My cat is away and so I am basically on my own: empty house, empty wallet (these hospital costs are crazy), empty heart (naks) which leave me with an empty mind altogether, haha.

With all these craziness in my life, I must say I am still lucky being alive and kicking .

The other day, I busied myself grabbing some eyeshadow palettes to see what my hands can do with them. While watching one episode of Nikita, Maggie Q was just awesome and thought come on, why not try the smokey eye look again only this time, I want it brown (or taupe).

Smokey eyes can be tricky, IMHO. When done in good taste and faith, the result can be very rewarding. For small, hooded eyes, I suggest to fake a crease by contouring your lids starting with a soft taupe or brown color to give the illusion of well rounded eyes.Your crease is that part of your lids where your eyeballs sit. Then at the outer lid, find a darker eyeshadow color and blend it for four(4) hours (errrr…. I’m just kidding). But seriously: blend, blend and blend some more!

If you already have that crease that I dreamed of, congratulations, you are my peg in this lifetime, lol. It won’t be as hard as those girls with hooded eyes like me because you can basically do everything you wish for in your eyelids (which makes me extremely jealous).

REVISITED | Celeteque Brightening Multi- Benefit BB Cream Review

Wow, I can't believe it! It's almost halfway of the year and yet I have so many things to do or write about. While I have my own setbacks, my life is pretty easy now. My dad has been discharged from the hospital (hopefully permanently) after his battle with esophageal mass. He is recuperating, that's for sure. I had my moments of frustrations especially dealing with my sick dad's situation but there is nothing which compares to the thought of losing him. So the good news is: he finally told me he's going to recover. Amen to that!

Now, back to regular programming, today's review is about Celeteque Brightening BB Cream which is available at all Watson's stores for Php 325.00.

Letter to Mom

Dear Mom

My mom is my hero. She is fun, smart and just like me in so many ways. She took care of everyone in the family and served as my inspiration during my formative years.

Yes, she was that kind of woman who won’t interrogate me when a potential suitor knocks at our door hoping to catch a glimpse of me. She will go to the kitchen and give this guy a glass of lemonade, instead.

And no, she won’t even bother to question why am I dressed in that little black dress which comes with a promise of a wonderful night out with friends. She will instead walk me through that door and bid me good night. And well, hopefully meet one nice charming guy and maybe share a kiss or two. (Okay this last sentence, I just made up.)

But she won’t ask me why I love books and writing in exchange for a trip to the beach. She won’t ask all of that because she believed that though I was young, I had that gift of decisiveness and confidence which earned her trust in no time.

REVISITED | The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15 Review

I abhor lipgloss(es)… I really do. But like any makeup aficionado, in some way or another, you will need to develop an attitude of some product tolerance somehow.

Okay now that I made that clear, the only reason why I don’t like a lipgloss is because after a while it feels sticky on my lips. Yuck. Or ewwww. Or blah.

I am old fashioned yes, and like your beauty conscious moms in the days, I do fancy that old formula kind of lipstick, 70 to 80-ish style. It’s probably simple and matte, not so much going on.

But then it has its cons: it can dry my lips like there’s no tomorrow.

Yuck again. Haha.

If you see me picking some skin on my lips, don’t mind me… I added that habit to my list of hobbies for sometime now. My lips are kinda boring and despite a number of people complimented me for having full lips, what they don’t know is that it is most often dry and flaky, I have to sleep every night with a dab of petroleum jelly or my good old trusted Carmex to get that pretty puckered lips.

Carmex is an excellent product to help you restore moisture in your lips. I like to use it during the night just before hitting my bed. Its consistency is a little runny, at least the one in that small tube so it’s always fun to put it before bedtime.

But I wanted to find something I can layer just before I apply my matte or balm lippies. My quest has led me into finding the The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15 (Php 199.00 or $ 4.50).
